Fahrenheit 451

So far I think that the book Fahrenheit 451 is good. In the beginning it seemed a bit odd because it described the girl asking the fireman why firemen used to put out fires in stead of making them. This was one dystopia that stood out to me. For firemen to start fires, and burn down houses rather then putting fires out to prevent others from danger is bizarre. It also was very weird to me that a young girl was walking alone on a dark street at night. I think that if I was walking alone at night I wouldn’t stop and walk with any grown men unless I knew them well. I would absolutely be freaked out if a man that wasn’t completely familiar with walked with me late at night, and we walked home together!

Jordan: Interesting thoughts.

Regarding Montag and Clarisse and walking alone at night. Do you think it says something of this society that people feel so safe that they could do something like this? How does that tie into it being a dystopia? Keep an eye on Montag's and Clarisse's relationship. What do you think she will teach Montag?

Good job and keep reading.

Jordan-
I felt the same exact way in the beginning of the book. It is very bizarre what was going on. Even now that I am further into the book I am still confused. How are houses fireproof? I think that Clarisse is very different from everyone else in the society. Maybe she started talking to Montag because she had nobody else to talk to. She seems to be fearless. Especially when shes walking a lone at night in the dark. I have a feeling something even more strange is going to happen soon.
